Although the original died, the replacement is doing well and is showing some life. I sincerely appreciate Hirts Garden's cooperation in replacing one of the two original plants I ordered.

QUINCE: Flowering quince (Chaenomeles speciosa or Japonica) is an old-fashioned deciduous shrub that American farmers of the 1800s often grew on their homesteads for its beauty and sometimes for a little bit of fruit. It's a bit of a mystery why farmers chose to grow this plant, as it does not produce large amounts of quality fruit--it is thought perhaps they simply loved the beauty of its early spring flowers.

DWARF FLOWERING QUINCE. Beautiful slow growing quince with double flowers of a delicate pale peach. Plant can eventually reach 3' to 3 1/2' and maybe slightly wider in time. Extremely attractive when in flower and always receives lots of comments and attention.
