(More customer reviews)I have been on a quest for the perfect water bottle, and this one almost makes it--but not quite. For some background, my criteria are that the bottle must be BPA-free, have a straw (for easier drinking without having to tip my head back while driving), have a large-mouth lid that screws all the way off (for easier cleaning/filling), and something insulated would be nice. I have always been a fan of my CamelBak for the easy flip-out, no-spill straw, but was hoping to find something in stainless steel or ideally with double-wall insulation. This bottle's design looked like a winner. I love that this bottle is double-walled, insulated stainless steel. No worries about BPA, and it truly keeps your water cold for an amazingly long period of time, with no condensation on the outside. Hooray, I don't have to find a free coaster for every room in the house! But most of all, I find that I drink a lot more water throughout the day when it stays fresh and cold, so the insulation was a huge selling feature for me. However, the implementation of the cover/drink mechanism leaves a lot to be desired. Considering how solid and indestructible the stainless steel body is, I'm surprised they made the cover so cheaply. The pop-up cover gets in the way a little bit (I vastly prefer the sturdier, streamlined CamelBak flip-out straw design). But what's worse is the flimsy latch that keeps the lid shut. The very first time I dropped this water bottle (with the lid shut, although granted it did fall about 4 feet onto a hard floor), the plastic latch broke, so now the lid is permanently open and the bottle is useless to take anywhere (although I still use it at home because I love how it keeps my water cold). And how hard would it have been to include any type of finger loop or spot to attach a carabiner clip? It's moot for me at this point considering the lid is broken anyway, but just for picking it up and carrying it around the house, if I have my hands full with other things, it's so much easier to pick up a water bottle by a loop with one finger rather than having to grasp it fully with my hand. Finally, a choice of a larger size (~24 oz.) would be nice. I realize with the insulation this would probably make the bottle too wide for most car cupholders, but perhaps they could keep a section of the bottom narrow and just widen the top. Unfortunately 16 oz. just doesn't last as long for me as the water stays cold in this bottle! If this bottle hadn't broken the first time I dropped it, I would have given it 4 stars. If Thermos would add a loop and offer a 24-oz. size, I would give it 5 stars, no question. If insulation is important to you and you realize the lid will probably break at some point, you may still appreciate this bottle; but as for me, I'm still on a quest for the perfect water bottle.
