(More customer reviews)Dimensions' Baby Express Birth Record in counted cross-stitch is an extremely detailed design with many color changes. the kit comes with everything you need, and as an added bonus the version I received already had the thread bundles separated by color onto cardboard thread holders. It would be helpful if the cardboard headers showed the symbol as well as the color number. The current method requires a three step process, 1# look at the chart for the symbol; 2) look at the list of symbols to find the number; 3) find the number on the thread holder.
The three color chart is full size, and the designers have made a concerted effort to use contrasting symbols, but if you have trouble differentiating the symbols I would recommend taking the chart to a color copier and having it blown up onto several sheets. #Remember that this is a copyrighted product and while you could make a copy for personal use, you can not make a copy to share.#
The actual design is full color and works up nicely. One enhancement that is easy to do independently is to add half cross stitches of color to squares where diagonal outlines include white space into the design.
My final concern is that Dimensions states that their thread is custom dyed. If you need additional material you are instructed to contact them directly. I have not had the need, but it could cause delays in finishing the design. I prefer designs that reference standard thread colors #DMC or Anchor# but the design was cute enough that I went ahead and purchased it anyway.
