Just like any planter you still have to take care of the plant the way the plant instructions say to take care of it. If the plant doesn't require much water like a succulent then you let the soil dry out before you add more water. If it's a plant that requires more water then you fill the reservoir to where you need to and keep the soil more moist. They're super cute and easy to use. I love the colors and design as well. I have three of the baby's in my kitchen with herbs and the larger ones I have throughout my house. I have a couple of jade plants that look beautiful in this planter.
