I put it to the test and hummingbirds seemed to think it worked fine. Really didn't need twelve but will make other feeders come spring !!

It's easy to make your own hummingbird feeder with these inexpensive, foolproof feeder tubes. Use any type bottle, jar or other container for liquid. All you need is an opening into which you push the rubber stopper on the feeder tube. The stopper is tapered and measures 1" at the top and 5/8" at the bottom. The curved plastic tube has a red tip to attract hummingbirds. Potters will find these feeder tubes perfect for completing a handmade feeder. For the crafts-minded person, plastic pop bottles make excellent containers. You can also use glass jars with lids. Just drill a hole in the lid and insert the feeder. Important: make sure that the rubber stopper fits tightly into your container to prevent leakage at the tip. You get a total of 12 feeder inserts in this offer, each one consisting of a transparent feeder tube, a red cap with feeding hole and a rubber stopper. They are assembled and ready to use.

9-10" Shiitake Mushroom Log Review

(More customer reviews)I had never heard of a mushroom log before until I was flipping through a catalog of expensive items and saw one. My thought was that it would make a great Christmas gift for my Dad, but I thought the price was a bit much, especially considering that shipping would be added on top. Since I was ordering from Amazon anyway I decided to look if mushroom logs were available, and indeed they were, for less than the price in the catalog I had been flipping through. Within a few days of placing the order, I got a very nice email from Sandra at Lost Creek. She wanted to know approximately when I would like the item to arrive, and explained that it's not good for the log to sit for long periods of time. I hadn't even considered that, and had missed the part in the description where that is stated. So I specified a date. I got an email from them when they had shipped the item, and it arrived a day before I had requested. How refreshing to see such a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Upon opening the box I saw that the log was nicely packaged for gift-giving and included detailed instructions, a "quick reference" card, a recipe booklet, and black-and-white pictures of what to expect when the log fruits. (The folks at Lost Creek must have taken to heart the other reviewer's comments back in 2005. I like it when people are willing to learn from their experiences.) No tray is included, but that fact is clearly stated in the description, and besides, it's cheap enough to get a plastic bucket from the supermarket or the hardware store.
Short Version: This is a wonderful and unique gift, nicely packaged and shipped right on time. Plus, the folks who sell it are clearly very focused on customer satisfaction. I couldn't ask for a better and more personal shopping experience.

Logs need air and light.For gift logs shipped now, please open the box until time for delivery. Kit contains an all-natural hardwood log injected with shiitake spawn and produce mushrooms every two months for years. Grow indoors with plants or outside in shade. To produce mushrooms, soak it in non-chlorinated ice water for 24 hours. Harvest in 6-10 days. Logs require regular soaking in nonchlorinated room-temperature water every two weeks. PLEASE NOTE: Logs are ALIVE and can't remain in the pacakging without air, light and oxygen for more than two weeks. Thanks!
