(More customer reviews)They are of poor design. The string end pulls out from the hanger, the force that it takes to pull the string is determined by how tight the lugnuts are on the center wheel. Here's the flaw, as you pull out the string it loads a spring that causes the string to pull back up, meaning your lamp will always be fully up! The tightening of the lugnuts have no effect on this retraction tension. Unless it's heavy enough to tug the string down, in which case it's too heavy for these. My lamp set up weighed 15 lbs & that wasn't even close to being enough to pull these down.
