(More customer reviews)I've been living with dishes from the 99 cent store and thrift stores (hey, I live alone, I'm a clutz and don't want to feel bad if they break, and I use paper plates anyway...) I finally decided to get something nice since relatives are visiting (OK, I'm showing off, their kitchen looks just like mine did before this shopping trip). I've always admired Corelle, but never got any. I looked on line and found that even though the manufacturer seems permanently stuck in the 1960-70's as far as most of the designs, somebody in the company actually learned it is 2007 and designed a few pieces that look fabulous and modern.
I strongly recommend that you look in the stores (although Corelle is hard to find) before you pick a pattern. I was going with Simple Lines and hadn't even considered Kobe, but when I saw and compared it was no contest!
WalMart was $49.99 for the sixteen piece set and on line and at Target, etc. same thing is $69.99 up to $85.99 (plus shipping if you get on line, plus sending any broken pieces back, etc.) One of the boxes in the store "rattled" like some pieces were broken, and one of the cups in the two sets I bought was nicked and I'll have to return it, but I didn't really care about the cups a lot anyway, they just came with the dishes and bowls. The dishes look and feel great and wash up PERFECT! I expect raves from my guests and am actually trying to find another pattern called Cherry Blossom that is also in the square plate style. Looks very elegant as well as casual depending on the setting/placemat.

(More customer reviews)This is great as an ice tray; you don't have to run water over the bottom, crack and twist the tray, and then get splintered ice, drips all over your kitchen, and too many or too few cubes. You don't have to turn it upside down; just push from the bottom and get exactly however many cubes--I mean, shells! you want, with no breakage or mess. The tray is a little soft and flexible so you do have to find a flat place in the freezer for it, and when I stacked another tray on top I got a little bit of "stickage" and a few misshapen shells; not a big deal unless you wanted perfectly shaped decorative ice.
Tonight I also used them to make chocolates (by melting chocolate chips & peanut butter together), and am very pleased with the detailed design and how easy it is to remove the candies; you can stretch the silicone a little bit so you don't lose the detail of the shells, and the others are not disturbed . These would make lovely butter pats too! Each well holds exactly one tablespoon of liquid.

(More customer reviews)This is a beautiful kit that was, for the most part, fun to stitch. The challenge was in seeing the subtle differences in some of the colors printed on the canvas. (An Ott light would help, but I don't have one.)
Another challenge was that there wasn't enough thread. I was able to blend some to create a color similar enough that it isn't noticable. I know I could have called them and have the right one sent, but who wants to stop when they're nearly finished and wait for who knows how long for the one strand to arrive? They'd do better to give a little more of each color. (I did have full strands left of some of the others.) In the end, it's a very lovely picture I'll enjoy looking at now that it's finished.
