(More customer reviews)Two years ago, I bought these seeds at my local garden center and started them indoors. They look pretty delicate on the package, but don't be fooled. Behind the delicate blooms, they are really tough plants and stand up to a lot of heat, drought, and poor soil. The seed packet says they do well in desert regions and they aren't kidding.
At the end of the year, I just left the pot they were in sitting out on my patio. I live in zone 8a, but we had an unusually cold winter. In the spring, I dumped the soil out of all my flower pots and put it in some raised beds in my garden. Imagine my surprise when these Vinca started popping up in my garden. They also came up everywhere I'd had the pot of Vinca sitting the year before - in the grass by my patio and even in some cracks in the sidewalk. I didn't want random Vinca growing everywhere, so I dug up my little volunteers and planted them in a pot.
The seed packet says they grow 12-15 inches tall. That's probably normal, but as of December my little volunteers were still blooming despite freezing temperatures outside and they were 33 inches tall! Amazing! Next year I'll buy more of these. I know they'll perform well and I think their glossy, green leaves and pretty pink flowers look fabulous in a big group.
