(More customer reviews)Using the large end of this product and not closing off the end I was able to make tiny doll hats for my daughter (fits a Barbie sized head). I used the instructions provided with larger round looms for that. I used 2 stands of yarn, if you only use one there are large gaps in the knit, thicker yarn is necessary.
Using the smaller end was just as easy. It works just as described even though I really have no use for a knitted belt. It was too thick using the smaller end to make strings for a knitted cap, which is what I was hoping I could do.
But it's a very easy product to use, quick and lots of fun. It also fits in my purse so I have something to do while I'm waiting somewhere and I was able to use it to demonstrate to other people how easy knitting circles are to use so now even more people are hooked!
It's a great value since this item provides two different size spool looms in one at a very low cost.

(More customer reviews)I have given these 4 stars because I am sure they work on the correct set of looms, but please be aware when ordering these that they are NOT compatible with the purple long loom that is sold separately. I called Provo Craft before ordering the clips to make sure they were compatible with the purple/pink rectangle long loom that I had and was assured they did work with it. They arrived today, and it is clear that they will not fit this loom. If I had realized this, I wouldn't have ordered them. Like cell phone cozies or MP3 player holders or hats for adults and kids or a belt or....
I have both this new version and 2 of the older style versions of this Knit Wit tool. Both sets seem sturdy and work well. I have lots of old books to use with the older version and let me just say, they are funny, especially the long skirts and high neck tops the women of the 60s and 70s wore. But I think I can adapt the older patterns for use with today's yarns and styles and if you can round up some of the older pattern books from ebay or elsewhere, I bet you can, too.
But don't use it with super bulky yarns such as Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick. All detail is lost with the super thick yarns and the resulting knotted mess is not pretty! The two samples I made ended up being turned into fluffy, knotted, tangled looking cat toys, so it wasn't all a waste of time.
3 ply and 4 ply yarn is fine, just not the super bulky variety. The sport weight, fingering weight and baby weight yarns look best, in my opinion, as they show the detail of the strands of yarn and the pattern they make to full advantage.
I also tried homespun, boucle and ribbon yarn and had good results with all of them, but I used ones that were lighter in weight/heft. Fun Fur did not work well for me, but maybe that's just me.
Look online for Hanaami Loom or Hannaami flowers/blooms to see more examples of what you can do with this type of craft.

(More customer reviews)The directions are just awful. It took a lot of experimentation to figure out how to use it, the diagrams and written instructions aren't sufficient. Once I figured it out the flowers are easy to make. They aren't very durable, so I can use them for gift wrapping or ornaments, but not as appliques, like I had hoped. They unravel easily. I can crochet for hours with no problem, but I found my hand cramping while using the bloom loom. It's an okay product, but I probably wouldn't buy it again.
