(More customer reviews)I have had a shortbread mould for over 30 years (does that make me sound old?) and have just loved the way it makes the shortbread come out! Anyone that gets this delicious buttery treat is lucky enough because they are just that good, but then to get one that is so beautifully presented is a bonus. It is such an easy cookie to make by the way! After making the shortbread dough, which is only three ingredients, (2 1/2 C. flour, 1/2 C. sugar, 1 C. soften butter: this makes two) you simply press 1/2 the dough evenly in the un-greased shortbread mould. I always smooth over the top of the dough with a soup size spoon just to get it super smooth and packed. Put a bit of dough on spots that seem shallow if needed and smooth down again. Simply bake the shortbread at the proper temperature and time which is usually 350* for 20 minutes. Watch it so that it doesn't get too brown, but I have found that the ones that are a bit darker are much tastier. After taking it from the oven simply run a rounded knife around the edge of the cookie while it is hot. I then put a large paper plate, I think around 13 3/5" (?) plate on top of the mould, and holding the edges of the mould and the plate (with pot holders, please!) quickly turn it over and carefully, not too hard, but with some force place it plate side down on the counter. With that bit of force it should drop nicely onto the plate and lift the mould off. Ta Da! You have a BEAUTIFUL shortbread that has a floral design and break marks to make pie shape pieces. Sprinkle it with regular sugar and let it cool. This is a treat my neighbors look forward to every Christmas. Buying a mould is worth the investment. Take care of it by brushing off the crumbs with a pastry brush and do not use soap. Just make sure it is packed so that it will not break and you should have years of use like I have. You can make shortbread and simple make two rounds on a cookie sheet about 3/4" thick and it will still taste great however, I treasure my mould because of the way it makes a plain, yet delicious shortbread into a spectacular, beautiful shortbread! I hope you enjoy!
